Advancing ethical finance and unlocking investment opportunities across East Africa
The Nairobi Securities Exchange and Somali Stock Exchange (SSE) are pleased to host the First East Africa Islamic Finance Forum 2025; a groundbreaking regional event aimed at advancing ethical finance and unlocking investment opportunities across East Africa.
The forum will bring together leading scholars, policymakers, investors, financial institutions, regulators, and entrepreneurs from across East Africa and beyond to explore the transformative role of Islamic finance in fostering resilience, inclusion, and sustainable growth.
Scheduled for 2nd - 3rd December 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya, the event's theme reflects the urgent need to align finance with principles of social justice, risk sharing, and real economic value creation.
Amid global uncertainty from trade wars and conflicts in the Middle East to reduced foreign assistance, East African economies have shown remarkable resilience through reforms, entrepreneurship, and regional cooperation.
East Africa, with its sizable Muslim population, is witnessing early growth: institutions offering Shariah compliant services rose from 16 in 2012 to 84 in 2022, led by Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya.
Our mission is to spotlight key issues in Islamic finance and engage the financial sector, investors, and regulators in meaningful dialogue. Through constructive discussions, we aim to propose practical solutions while fostering strong connections across the region.
The Forum will explore how these opportunities can be harnessed to drive economic development and strengthen ties between East Africa and the Middle East.
